With the music scene in Manchester being so exciting, I love discovering new Mancunian bands that have every bit of potential to be the next big thing. I came across The Marivaux through suggestions from friends, I'm yet to see them live but I'm looking forward to their single launch in November. Last night The Marivaux dropped their new video for the song 'Birds and the Bees' which is to be the bands newest single, it's an energetic and distinctive sound. The video was directed by Sean Ward, starring Georgia Foote and Jack Johnson. The video has a psychedelic theme that shows the relationship of a young couple in the heart of Manchester. It gives the viewers a feel of what it will be like to see the band live, giving everyone that urge to change the subtle head bopping into a more extravagant move. The band is made up of members; Phil McAdam (lead singer & guitarist), Matt Shields (lead guitarist and vocals), Ben Peacock (vocal and drums), & Rik Packer (vocals and bass). The Marivaux bring together all of their musical influences in a unique way, generating a BritRock sound, similar to the one that was so popular in 1990’s - it’s about time this style of music is brought back. The music this band creates radiates a lot of positive vibes which has the ability of taking people back to their fondest memories. There’s a lot of energy in this band which is always refreshing to see, the band started making music in 2009 and they have a constant drive and desire to make music that’s going to have an impact and provide some amazing tunes for the current generation that longs to be back in the time music was at its peak. With their new video producing such good feedback, I’m really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this band. Watch the video below, and check out the band on Twitter and Facebook to find out about all upcoming shows and releases.
